From Mr. Woods:

Hello Tiger Band Family,
Congratulations to Mr. Ehlers, Mr. Demetriou and the entire DSISD Percussion Program on a really fantastic concert "Momentum" on Friday.  Such a variety of styles, sounds and levels of experience all in one evening was really inspiring.  Thank you to Allison Muth for helping to feed all 70+ students!

The UIL Solo and Ensemble Festival was a big success on Saturday at Hays HS. Thank you to Jackie Fushille and Marion Grant for chaperoning the event! Our students earned 85 "I" ratings, 13 "II" ratings. All of these students will receive a UIL medal at the Band Banquet. 14 students qualified for the UIL State Solo and Ensemble Contest. Qualification requires the student to perform a Class 1 solo from memory and receive a "I" rating.  All 4 of the ensembles received "I" ratings, with 3 of them qualifying for the UIL State Solo and Ensemble Contest.

Students qualifying for the UIL State Solo and Ensemble Contest are:

Alyssa Lantz, Flute

The Silent Auction will run throughout the event, with the Raffle items and a fun game happening, too. We will need student volunteers to work several different jobs throughout the evening. This is a great event to socialize with your Tiger Band Family and to hear some really great Jazz music performed by the DSMS, SSMS and DSHS Jazz ensembles. See you there!

Uniform Update

Congratulations to all of our Solo/Ensemble performers this past Saturday. You make Dripping Springs proud!

Attention Evening of Jazz Band Students: According to Mr. Meyer, ALL high school jazz band students will be expected to wear concert black (this is not the concert uniform used at our school concerts).

Guys should wear black slacks, black dress shirt, black shoes, long black socks, and black belts. Colorful ties are optional (no jeans or t-shirts).

Ladies can wear black slacks with a blouse, black concert dress or skirt and a blouse (no mini skirts, t-shirts or jeans) and appropriate shoes.

Parents: Dillard's is having a 65% off sale this week for black dress shirts (15" - 18" neck sizes).

Parents, please remind your students to check the Lost & Found for many lost pairs of shoes, shirts and other band paraphernalia left since our last winter concert. Make sure to have all of your stuff pulled together and ready for the UIL Band and Sight Reading competition coming end of March.

If you have any further questions, please contact us at: uniforms@dsbandboosters.org.

Thank you,

Su Gibbs and Suzanne Gusella

Co-VP Uniform Coordinators
