A Great Loss
Hello Tiger Band Family,
It is with great sorrow that I am contacting you today. Last night one of our own Tiger Band students, Dorian Kweller - Junior Percussionist, passed away last night. Our students are hurting right now, but please know that our Counseling Office and Administration are working to provide support for any and all students wanting to have a place to be or someone to talk with. The Band Staff is also here for any and all needs. If you have any questions about services available, please contact Retta Ary or Angela Gamez. I have some heartbreaking news to share. Last night, DSHS Junior Dorian Kweller was killed in a car accident. Dorian was a beloved classmate and friend, an exceptionally talented musician, and a proud member of the Tiger Band.
Tragedies like this can have a profound effect on students, even if they were not directly connected to Dorian. Extra counselors and Licensed Mental Health Providers were on campus today to support students and staff and will continue to be available to those in need.
Counseling will be available in the library tomorrow (Wednesday, March 1) and Thursday (March 2) from 10 am – 2 pm. Should students need additional support or resources, please reach out to your school counselor. We are all here to help.
