Alex Szabo – Trumpet

Alex Szabo is a trumpet player and teacher based in Austin, Texas. Alex holds a Bachelor’s
degree in Trumpet Performance and a Master’s degree in Trumpet Performance and Pedagogy
from Texas State University in San Marcos, TX. During his graduate studies, Alex served as a
graduate instructional assistant to the Bobcat Marching Band and performed with the Texas
State Wind Symphony, Symphony Orchestra, Jazz Ensemble, and the Bobcat Brass Quintet.
Prior to returning to graduate school, Alex taught private trumpet lessons in Leander ISD and
Pflugerville ISD for five years.


Alex is actively involved in the marching arts community. He has been a trumpet instructor for
the Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps since the 2022 season. Prior to that, he had worked with
Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corps, Louisiana Stars Drum and Bugle Corps, Weiss High School
(Pflugerville), James Bowie High School (Austin), Tulane University, and Fred J Miller Summer
Clinics. Alex’s love for the marching arts stems from the five summers he spent as a member of
the Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps mellophone section, including their 2013 World
Championship season.


Alex’s professional affiliations include Texas Music Educators Association, International Trumpet
Guild, Pi Kappa Lambda Music Honors Society, Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, and Kappa
Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity.


A Cedar Park native, Alex now lives in San Marcos with his girlfriend, Jordan, and King Charles
Spaniel, Moose. Outside of his musical ventures, Alex enjoys attending sporting events,
cooking, and mini golfing.
