Chris Demetriou has been working as a percussion instructor, composer, and performer in the Austin area for the last 5 years. He holds a Master’s degree from The Eastman School of Music, and well as a Bachelor’s from Ithaca College. He has performed hundreds of concerts across North America with his group The Kraken Quartet, and has been featured by NPR Music, South by Southwest, The Austin Chronicle, and more. As an educator, Chris has prepared dozens of students for successful auditions, including those for All-State Band and college entrance. Beyond his work in the district, Chris is the director of the Austin Percussion Festival, a local annual event that focuses on community building through percussion education.
