From Mr. Woods:

Hello Tiger Band Family,
The UIL Solo and Ensemble contest was held Saturday, Feb. 5th at Hays HS.  DSHS Band had 110 solo and 1 ensemble performances, with 89 students and 1 ensemble earning a I (Superior) rating and 11 students qualifying for the UIL State Solo and Ensemble contest May 28-30.  Thank you to Tim Smith for the 2 full round trips from DSHS to Hays HS throughout the day!

Side by Side rehearsal at DSHS 10:50am

SSMS on Thursday, February 7 (rescheduled date)

The DSHS Symphonic Band was very excited to host the DSMS Band students on Feb. 3rd.  All students were very well behaved, attentive and responsive to the tips of the trade Mr. Pearson shared with them about the DSMS UIL music.  Then the DSHS Symphonic Band shared snippets of their UIL music program as an example of what the HS students are preparing.  Even with a pizza delivery snafu, all the students enjoyed pizza and socializing with each other.  Thank you to Mr. Larson and Mr. Sayger for sharing their students with us, and Mrs. Meyer for helping out with the pizza!

The SSMS Side by Side event was postponed to tomorrow, Feb. 7 due to the icy weather. The DSHS Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band students are excited to welcome the SSMS Band students into their rehearsal set up for great music making and getting to know each other over pizza.  Thank you to Ms. Galloway and Mrs. Sayger for your flexibility in rescheduling this important event and to Mrs. Conreaux for assisting with the pizza!

HS Band Orientation Meeting: NEW DATE - Monday, Feb. 7 at 7:00pm

This meeting, held at the DSHS Auditorium, is required for all SSMS and DSMS 8th grade band students and their parents. Information about the DSHS Tiger Band schedule and expectations will be presented.  A virtual component may be offered if needed.  Even if your student may not continue in HS Band, please do plan to attend the meeting.

Recital Series: Monday, 2/7 at DSHS

In order to fulfill the solo performance requirement, any student not performing their solo at the UIL festival will perform at the Recital Series.  Their assigned Accompanist will not perform for them, and there is no refund of the accompanist fee or the entry fee.

Evening of Jazz: Friday, February 25th 5:30pm

Our annual Evening of Jazz fundraising event is fast approaching. Information on how to purchase dinner tickets, silent auction items, etc. is below.  Urge your neighbors, friends, and fellow jazz lovers to join us at DS Ranch Park to enjoy great jazz performances by our MS Jazz Band and both DSHS Jazz Orchestra groups.  This is one of our most important fundraisers, and we need your volunteer help.  Thank you to Michael Rutherford for leading the event preparation this year!

Uniform Update

Black and White Shoes in Lost and Found Area

As mentioned before, we have noticed a couple of pairs of black band shoes and one pair of white band shoes in the lost and found. When the bookcase is cleaned out, we will take these shoes into the uniform room as donations to be used as loaners. Please make sure that your students have all of their black and white marching shoes. To help keep track of these shoes we advise students to put their initials on either the inside rim of the shoes or under the tongue. This makes it easier to quickly find their owners. We have silver markers in the uniform room if you need to mark your shoes.

Band Donations Accepted

Donations of clean band shirts, polos, shoes and shorts are always accepted if you are clearing out closets. Please do not send used gloves or socks. With all of the shortages getting stuff this past fall most of our extras were depleted. Donations can be placed in a box/bag and either handed to a director or placed by the uniform door (not by the lost and found).  Students will still need black shoes, bike shorts and gray dri-fits for the upcoming concerts and UIL contests in the spring. Informal uniforms will still be needed for events such as the March band trip and the Founders Day parade in April.

Thank you to Reid's Dry Cleaners for their excellent job of getting our white bibbers and marching jackets cleaned over the holiday break.

If you have any further questions, please contact us at: uniforms@dsbandboosters.org.

Thank you,

Su Gibbs and Suzanne Gusella

Please be sure to check the announcement sheet, linked here, for weekly rehearsal schedule and upcoming event information.

Pageantry in the Springs TCGC Contest

Thank you to all the students and adults that volunteered for the Pageantry in the Springs TCGC contest yesterday.  It was a long day, but I received many compliments and positive comments about how well the event was organized and how polite and helpful all of the Dripping Springs Tiger Band people were.  An enormous thank you to Melissa Tyree for coordinating this event, and all of the Leads for all of the preparations and running of the different aspects of the event.   Scroll down to see Melissa Tyree's great recap of the event and list of all the Leads and local businesses that helped to make the event a huge success!

Side by Side rehearsals at DSHS 10:50am

DSMS on Wednesday, February 3rd

SSMS on Thursday, February 4th

We're very excited to bring back the Side by Side rehearsal event for both MS's.  This event brings the MS Bands to DSHS to rehearse - Side by Side - with the HS Bands.  The MS UIL music is rehearsed by a HS Director with the MS and HS Band students all together, offering the MS students an opportunity to experience a "HS Band" rehearsal while getting to hear the HS students play along with their UIL music.  The HS Band will then play a portion of their own UIL music, allowing the MS students to follow along and feel how it sounds to perform in a HS ensemble.  We do need a couple of Parent volunteers to assist with Pizza after the session is finished, Pizza will be delivered at 12:15am both days.

HS Band Orientation Meeting: Thursday, February 3rd at 7:00pm

This meeting, held at the DSHS Auditorium, is required for all SSMS and DSMS 8th grade band students and their parents. Information about the DSHS Tiger Band schedule and expectations will be presented.  A virtual component may be offered if needed.  Even if your student may not continue in HS Band, please do plan to attend the meeting.

UIL Solo and Ensemble: Saturday, February 5th at Hays HS

All academically eligible DSHS Band students will be performing a solo at the UIL Solo and Ensemble Festival at Hays HS on Saturday, February 5th. Transportation will be provided.   The Performance Schedule will be available early this week.  Students may be picked up by parents after performance, and sign out with the Chaperone or Director.

Student Schedule with Accompanist

Recital Series: Monday, 2/7 at DSHS

In order to fulfill the solo performance requirement, any student not performing their solo at the UIL festival will perform at the Recital Series.  Their assigned Accompanist will not perform for them, and there is no refund of the accompanist fee or the entry fee.

President's Update

Howdy Tiger Band Families!

Thanks to all of the band boosters and students that helped make Pageantry in the Springs a huge success yesterday!  A special thanks goes out to Melissa Tyree for her amazing work planning and organizing the event, and the lead volunteers for each area that ran a great program. Thank you!

An Evening of Jazz is coming up! Event and Raffle tickets are sold online only this year. Event ticket sales end February 11, so get your order in now!  Raffle ticket sales will continue through the evening of the event. Look for posts on the band family Facebook page with raffle item details. Buy your tickets at https://dripping-springs-band-boosters.snwbll.com/ticketing/evening-of-jazz?fbclid=IwAR0CVNjtz2-CLmOfGeESbviznXqGlKeTfdL0_UC-E3BSni7iXaZG-kk7qds.

One of the most exciting parts of an Evening of Jazz is the silent auction. Tara Ballard and Christy Neffendorf have curated a fantastic collection of over 90 donated items for your bids! This year the bidding will be done online as well. The online bidding will open on February 18.  All auction items will be on display at An Evening of Jazz, and QR codes will be available to allow you to continue bidding throughout the evening using your phone. The online system will help us speedup the checkout process and allow you to sneak in a few last-minute bids from your table!

Finally, don’t forget to get your HEB Card Gift Card orders (see the link at the top of the newsletter)! This program lets you support the band program as you do your grocery shopping at HEB and Central Market. The band boosters receive a donation from HEB that’s a percentage of your gift card purchase, and you can use the gift card for groceries, prescriptions, gas, etc.

A reminder of why we fundraise to support the band program.  The props, uniforms, contest entry fees, clinician sessions, private lesson scholarships, snacks and more are bought with the funds we raise. Larger pieces of equipment are purchased with help from booster funds as well. You all know that our band trailer is in disrepair and was unavailable for use this marching season. The cost of the repairs is too high given the value of the trailer, and the booster board is moving forward with the purchase of a professionally refurbished trailer.  More details on the trailer options will be presented at the next band booster meeting on Monday, February 7 at 6:30p.m. in the band hall. Come learn more there and how your volunteer support will have a huge impact!

Volunteers Needed - Pageantry in the Springs THIS Sat, Jan 29th!

We are less a week away from the Band’s first big fundraiser of the year: Pageantry in the Springs - A Texas Color Guard Circuit Competition on Saturday, January 29th.

We are hosting 74 Winter Guard and Percussion Units from all over Texas. The first performance is at 8:30 a.m. and the last retreat at 10:00 p.m.

We need both parent and student support to make this successful! These volunteer spots are the bare minimum that we need to run a smooth contest that day. My estimates are that we will have over 3,000 participants, volunteers, directors, and spectators in attendance. Safety protocols put in place for this contest mean that it will be a very streamlined and fast-paced event. Please sign up for 1-2 shifts to make this a success for the students and directors who put so much time and effort into these performances.

Deadline to sign up: Monday, January 24th

This allows us time to generate volunteer materials and purchase extra food if needed prior to the contest.

President's Update

Howdy Tiger Band Families!

Pageantry in the Springs, the TCGC winter guard event we're hosting, is less that two weeks away!  Please see the next section for the latest update and all of the volunteer opportunities.  This event isn't run by Color Guard, and will require help from the entire band family.  We need help from parents and students in all areas throughout the day.  Also, because we're indoors instead of at Tiger Stadium our concessions plan is different, and we're seeking donations for the concessions stand.  Please sign up this week!

An Evening of Jazz will be held at the end of February.  The next planning meeting will be Monday, January 24 at 6:3pm in the Band Hall.  Please come out to help us prepare for a great evening of music, food, and fellowship! We’re currently seeking donations for the silent auction.  If you or your company would like to donate please email SilentAuction@dsbandboosters.org.

Thank you for your help with these two big events that kick off our spring season!

Pageantry in the Springs

We are less than two weeks away from the Band’s first big fundraiser of the year: Pageantry in the Springs - A Texas Color Guard Circuit Competition. The schedule was just released yesterday, and we are hosting 74 Winter Guard and Percussion Units from all over Texas. The first performance is at 8:30 a.m. and the last retreat at 10:00 p.m.

With the uncertainties that 2022 brings, we really need your donations of time and food. The shift times are now posted to SignUp. Students should also select a time slot and will be assigned to positions.

Deadline to sign up: Friday, January 21st

This allows us time to generate volunteer materials and purchase extra food if needed prior to the contest.

Uniform Update

Band Donations Accepted

Donations of clean polos, band shirts, shoes and shorts are always accepted if you are clearing out your students' closets for stuff they have outgrown. Please do not send used gloves or socks. With all the shortages in getting stuff this past fall most of our extras were depleted. Donations can be placed in a box/bag and either handed to a director or placed by the uniform door (not by the lost and found).

Please make sure that your student has black shoes, bike shorts and gray dri-fits for the upcoming concerts and UIL contests this spring.

If you have any further questions, please contact us at: uniforms@dsbandboosters.org.

President's Update

Howdy and happy new year Tiger Band Families!

While the kids may have been home from school, planning to host a winter color guard and percussion contest at the end of January and Evening of Jazz in February didn’t take a break!  The TCGC event is just a few weeks away, and volunteer needs have been identified.  A big thank you to Melissa Tyree for working tirelessly to figure this out since it’s been many years since we’ve hosted an event like this! We need help the day of the event from adults and students to ensure the event runs smoothly, and we’re looking for donations for the concession stand since we won’t be in the familiar setup of Tiger Stadium.  Please see the signup links at the top of the newsletter and sign up to help!

An Evening of Jazz will be a great time for us to get together at the end of February and enjoy great music, food, and fellowship.  We’re currently seeking donations for the silent auction.  If you or your company would like to donate please email SilentAuction@dsbandboosters.org.  If you have time this month to help contact businesses to request donations please email Silent Auction as well to get started.  A big thanks to Tara Ballard and Christy Neffendorf for leading the silent auction this year!

Finally, we have our monthly booster meeting tomorrow evening at 6:30 in the band hall, followed by a planning meeting for the TCGC event.  I’d love to see you there to learn about our upcoming events and what’s going on behind the scenes for the coming marching season.

I hope to see you on Monday!

Go Tiger Band!

Pageantry in the Springs

A Texas Color Guard Circuit Competition at Dripping Springs High School on Saturday, January 29th

It has been over 3 years since the Dripping Spring Colorguard has had a “normal” Winterguard season. Only 2 out of our 25 members have completed an entire Winterguard season and they are both seniors graduating this year.

It would be a great gift back to our high school Colorguard, our middle school Cadet Guard and 70 other Colorguard and Percussion units from Central Texas to kick off this season with a spectacular opening contest on Saturday, January 29th - Pageantry in the Springs, A Texas Color Guard Circuit Event at the Dripping Springs High School.

To make this happen, we need your generous donations of both time and food on Saturday, January 29th. We are hosting this contest with the Texas Color Guard Circuit. While they will not release the final schedule for the contest until two weeks prior to the contest, we need to start planning for volunteer positions now. We have been given an estimated time of 12 hours of competition, plus setup and teardown that day. To distribute the workload, the SignUp is divided into 4 shifts. As soon as we have the official start and end times, the times for the shifts will be added to the SignUp.

The SignUp contains spots for both adults and students. This will attempt to allow parents to sign up for shifts at the same time as their students. It will also reduce the workload for our event planners. Students will be assigned to jobs within the shift that they sign up for that day. We may need to balance student assignments based on the final contest schedule. Students will receive a certificate for their volunteer hours.

Uniform Update

Happy New Year!

Senior pictures went off without a hitch. All of our Seniors showed up for the field picture and we were able to get some really great pictures of the Senior class. Just a reminder that those pictures are on the band's Facebook site for ordering. Jason Flennican did another great job to capture our band.  Thank You!

Black Shoes in Lost and Found Area

Please make sure that your students have all of their black shoes accountable as we have noticed a couple of pairs of black band shoes in the lost and found. When the bookcase is cleaned out, we will take these shoes into the uniform room as donations to be used as loaners. To help keep track of these shoes we advise students to put their initials on either the inside rim of the shoes or under the tongue. This makes it easier to quickly find their owners. We have silver markers in the uniform room if you would like to mark your shoes.

Band Donations Accepted

Donations of clean band shirts, polos, shoes and shorts are always accepted if you are clearing out over the holidays. Please do not send used gloves or socks. With all of the shortages getting stuff this past fall most of our extras were depleted. Thank you to all of our Kubby Keepers for getting all of the concert jackets and bibbers cleaned before the holidays. The uniform room smells great.

Senior Field Picture
Senior night pictures were so rushed we did not get a stadium on-field picture of all of this year's seniors, which we use for the memory book. All band seniors including Color Guard are asked to show up in their marching uniforms on Friday, December 17th, at the stadium at 8:00 AM for this picture. Please come early to get dressed. Mr. Flenniken, our photographer, asked students to bring their instruments if they wanted additional individual pictures which will be available on SmugMug for purchase.
Parents, please remind students that they will need their gray dri-fit shirt, long black socks, black band shoes and gray bike shorts for this picture.

President's Update

Howdy Tiger Band Families!

It was great to spend an evening with everyone at the holiday concert this week. All the bands were fantastic!

A big thank you to everyone that came to help clean up the concession stands on Saturday. My plans to have student volunteer certificates to directors this week were delayed by my need to learn how to use mail merge in Word properly. That’s done, and certificates will be available from the directors this week, and will include Saturday’s clean up as well. If there are any questions, please feel free to email me at the address below.

This week there is a TCGC planning meeting at Hat Creek on Wednesday at 10a.m. if you can make it. The next meeting will be during winter guard camp the first week of the new year. Watch the Facebook page for the details. Please email cgliason@dsbandboosters.org and let Melissa Tyree, our event chair, know if you’re interested in helping out.

The next meeting for Evening of Jazz will be after the new year as well. Collection of silent auction items will begin this week. If you or your business would like to donate an item to the auction, please email SilentAuction@dsbandboosters.org. If you’d like to help out with contacting companies and missed the last planning meeting, please email Jazz@dsbandboosters.org to let Mike Rutherford, our event chair, know you’d like to help.

Have a great finals week and winter break!

President's Update

Howdy Tiger Band Families!

As the semester is winding down, we’re finally wrapping up our concession stand fundraising as well. Thank you to the parents and students that worked yesterday’s playoff game! It was a big crowd that kept us working until the end. Thank you all for your patience and positive attitude as we sold out of just about everything. Next Saturday from9-noon we have a concession stand cleanup where we’ll wipe everything down and get our equipment back into the storage unit. Please sign up to help at https://signup.com/go/jcvDrvu if you can help.

I am working with Kevin on service hour certificates for students that have worked in concessions and for everyone that helped with band registration in July as well. The directors will have them by Wednesday.

Tomorrow evening at 6:30 we will have our monthly booster meeting, and that will be followed immediately by a planning meeting for the winter color guard and percussion event we’ll be hosting on January 29. Come out to learn how you can get involved with this (indoor!) fundraising opportunity.

Finally, the preparations for our Evening of Jazz fundraiser have begun. If you’d like to help with asking area businesses to donate items for our silent auction please email Mike Rutherford at Jazz@dsbandboosters.org and he’ll help you get started.

I’ll see you all at the holiday concerts on Thursday!

Concessions Update - Concessions Stand Cleanout

We officially finished the 2021 concessions season yesterday afternoon, when DSISD hosted the Lake Travis / SA Brennan 6A-Division 1 quarter final playoff game. On Saturday 12/11 we will be gathering at the concessions knock this out.

Equipment Cleanup – 8:30 – 10:30 – 5 adults
Drain and boil-out fryers

Clean tables and condiment boats
Clean floor mats

Pack / Move / Clean – 8:30 – 11:30 – 25 adults / students

From Mr. Woods

Hello Tiger Band Family,

Good luck to all 63 students auditioning this week for the TMEA All-Region Band at Akins HS on Thursday, 12/2 and/or Saturday, 12/4!

As we transition into the next phase of the Tiger Band year, please know that we still need your involvement as a volunteer to make sure all of our fundraising events present a positive and high-quality snapshot of the DSHS Tiger Band Program, DSISD and the community at large.  We have a couple of high-profile events coming up like hosting the TCGC Winterguard/Winter Percussion contest on January 29th and the Evening of Jazz on February 25th.  These are great opportunities to raise funds for the Tiger Band Boosters, but more importantly a great opportunity to showcase our students, facilities and community to a larger audience.  As the saying goes...many hands make light work. Please consider putting your hands to work with us to ensure the success of these events.

Symphonic/Concert Band rehearsals for Holiday Concert

All Symphonic and Concert Band students and the Percussion students assigned to those groups for the Holiday Concert will have these morning rehearsals to attend.

12/6 - Symphonic Band 7-8:20am
12/7 - Concert Band 7-8:20am
12/8 - Symphonic Band 7-8:20am
12/9 - Concert Band 7-8:20am

DSHS Bands Holiday Concert

Our annual Holiday Concert will be on Thursday, December 9th starting at 6:30pm in the DSHS Auditorium.  All 3 Concert ensembles, plus the Jazz Orchestra will be performing.  Come join us and share in some Holiday Cheer!

West Texas A+M University Trombone Choir Concert

On Wednesday, December 15th at 6:30pm in the DSHS Band Hall, the WTAMU Trombone Choir will present a FREE concert in conjunction with several DSHS Tiger Band small ensembles.  All DSHS, DSMS and SSMS Middle School band students are invited, regardless of instrument.  This will be a fun get together for our HS/MS Band Buddies, in addition to hearing some really great trombone choir pieces.  The DSHS small ensembles will be playing festive holiday songs.  Your MS Directors will be giving more specific information about this opportunity to the MS students.

President's Update

Howdy Tiger Band Families!

I hope everyone had a great holiday week. I drove a bit too much to call it relaxing, but it was good to see family I haven’t seen in a while.  As football concession stand season continues and our spring fundraisers start up there are several places where the band program needs your support.

Monday, November 29 at 5:30pm in the Band Hall we will kick off planning for An Evening of Jazz. This spring fundraiser is a dinner and silent auction with performances by the middle school and high school jazz ensembles.  It’s a fun evening to spend time with other band families, enjoy the music, and help raise money in support of next year’s show.  We need volunteers now to begin collecting items for the silent auction, which is largely done from home by sending emails to potential donors and then following up with letters or in-store visits.  If you’d like to help please email SilentAuction@dsbandboosters.org and let Mike Rutherford, our Evening of Jazz event chair, know.

Lake Travis’ success in the football playoffs continues to provide opportunities for the concession stand. Tiger Stadium will host their next playoff game on Saturday, December 4 at 2p.m. We need 19 volunteers (adults or students) to work the home side concession stand.  The Cheer boosters that ran concessions for non-varsity games this season will operate the visitor side concession stand.  Please sign up today!

Finally, Monday, December 6 will be the next monthly Band Booster meeting and TCGC planning meeting.  Come out to learn about plans for spring events and how you can help with hosting the color guard and percussion competition (all indoors!) at the end of January.

Concessions Stand - Help Needed!

Another Game - on Friday evening, we were notified that we will be hosting another 6-A playoff game this Saturday 12/4 at Tiger Stadium.

2:00  - Lake Travis vs. San Antonio - Brennan

Since the band boosters has the contract to run the concessions stands for all fall events at the stadium, we will need to operate the concessions stand for this game.  We’ve contacted the Cheer Boosters (the group that operates the concessions stand for us for all of the JV games) and they have agreed to run the Visitors side, so the band will only need to operate the Home Side.

We have the following needs for the game:

  • Pre-Game Prep – 11:30 – 2:00 – 2 spots
  • Cooks – 11:30 – 3:30 – 2 spots
  • Concessions stand workers – 12:45 – 5:00   14 spots

PLEASE SIGN-UP – if you are able to help, please make sure to sign up so that we know who we can count on for this game.

Region band auditions are this same day, so many students will not be available, but if your student(s) are not participating in the auditions and are able to help, please feel free to sign them up to help along with you.

Save the date – 12/11 - Concessions Clean-up

We are planning to have the Concessions Stand clean-up and move out on Saturday Morning – December 11.  We will need a group to help pack, clean, and move our supplies and items to storage.  An announcement will be sent out when the plans for this are finalized and the Sign-up is available.  Please stay tuned.

Pit Crew/Props Update

THANK YOU to all those that have supported the movement of pit crew, props, and podiums during this marching season.  I know that I have learned so much and for those that participated I’m certain you will agree that it was a great way to meet other band parents, share stories of previous years and gain a new perspective of the dedication and commitment our kids make each and every day.

Although our efforts to move equipment is over for now, I encourage each of you to continue to volunteer. Thanks again for making this a great season!

President's Update

Howdy Tiger Band Families!

Thank you to the band students and parents that came out on Friday for the final concession stand night of the season!  The students did a great job. If you haven't seen the photos of them in action be sure to check out the Tiger Band Family facebook page.  We will have a cleanup event coming up in December to move equipment back into storage and clean the cooking areas. Please look for a sign up when the date is set.

Even though  football and marching season are over we still need your help!  The next Band Booster meeting will be Monday, December 6 at 6:30pm in the band hall. All are welcome as we discuss our spring events. The meeting will be immediately followed by a planning meeting for TCGC Winterguard/Winter percussion contest.  We'll need volunteers in similar roles to what we had for Thunder in the Hills.

Our Spring fundraising events are the TCGC Winterguard and Winter percussion contest on Saturday, January 29, and Evening of Jazz on Friday, February 25.  Evening of Jazz is a barbecue dinner and silent auction with performances by the middle school and high school jazz ensembles.  We need volunteers to help collect silent auction items beginning now, and will need help preparing ticket packets before the Christmas break. The day of the event we'll need help with setup, decorations, ticket collection, silent auction monitors and cashiers, and breakdown.  Please think about where you'd like to help and be on the lookout for the announcement of the first planning meeting.

Thank you all again for a great marching season! The band cannot put on the show they do without your help at contests, games, working in concessions, serving meals, packing snacks, recruiting sponsors, preparing HEB cards, and the administration of the band booster organization. Thank you!

I hope you all have a great holiday this week, and safe journeys to all that are traveling.

Concessions Stand - Help Needed!

Just when we thought we were done…

After our game on Friday, we were notified that we will be hosting a 6-A playoff game this Friday 11/19 at Tiger Stadium.  PLEASE SIGN UP NOW: https://signup.com/go/jcvDrvu.

Being a 6A game and Lake Travis being close and expected to travel, we will be operating both the home and visitor concessions stands. To staff this event, we are planning to use a combination of adult and student volunteers from the band.  This is a great opportunity for students to earn a few volunteer hours and have some fun at the same time.  We will provide a meal to all workers during the game.

Adult Volunteer Needs:

  • EARLY PREP – (3 – to work with 3 students to prep the stand, condiments, heat chili/cheese, begin popping popcorn, etc.)
  • COOKS – (6 total:  2 Grills, 2 Fryers, 2 Hot Chocolate – note no catfish or press box)
  • CASHIERS – (8 total – 4 per side – if the Lake Travis side is busier, we may shift resources)
  • PREP OVERSIGHT – (2 – 1 per side to guide and direct students prepping food, etc.)

Student Volunteer Needs:

  • EARLY PREP – (3 students to prep the stand, condiments, heat chili/cheese, begin popping popcorn, etc.)
  • CONCESSIONS WORKERS – (27 total – 8 runners; 10 serve drinks/food; 9 wrap food, prep nachos, popcorn, stock supplies, etc.)

I have confirmed with the Athletic Dept that this will be the LAST event of the 2021 football season at our stadium.   We will be organizing a date and time to pack, clean, and move our equipment and remaining supplies to storage sometime between Thanksgiving and the Christmas break…stay tuned.

It has been a fantastic year for the Tiger Band and an equally fantastic year for our concession operations.  Many thanks to all volunteers for your hard work and efforts – the band is very fortunate to have this opportunity to raise significant funds to support the band program, and it wouldn’t be possible without your hard work.

Football Playoffs

Congratulations to the Tiger Football Team on a very successful season!  Due to the result of the first playoff game, our marching band season has officially come to an end.

President's Update

Howdy Tiger Band Families!

The Tiger Football season may have come to an end with Friday’s exciting game, but we have one final opportunity to earn money for the band program through concessions.  Tiger Stadium will host the playoff game between Lake Travis and San Antonio East Central this coming Friday — kickoff at 7:30pm.  Band students may work in the concession stand to earn volunteer hours.  Please use the sign up link to sign up by the end of the day on Monday.

Butter Braids — the sweetest of our fundraisers — is in it’s final week! If you have friends and family that would like to order please sign your student up to sell using the link above.  Orders close next Sunday, and items will be available for pickup from the band hall on December 7.

Finally, if you missed the announcement on the Facebook page from Mr. Woods, the final TMF spirit store items have been delivered to the band hall.  Please ask your student to pick up the items you ordered to bring home if they weren’t picked up on Friday.

Thank you all for your help this season volunteering at games, contests, and behind the scenes making this season a success!  Let’s wrap it up with one more great night in the concession stands at Tiger Stadium!

Go Tiger Band!

Uniform Update

Our band students looked fantastic for this year's final football game in Tiger Stadium. They were happy to have had the opportunity to wear their shakos and plumes once this season. We are officially done with football season, but we are not done with uniforms.

Concert season starts in December and there are also TMEA band auditions and concerts. Uniforms will be going out for Dry-Cleaning and will be ready for the rest of the year.

Holiday concert will be December 9th at 6:30pm

PARENTS: Students will need their grey dri-fit shirt, long black socks, black band shoes and grey bike shorts for the concert season. Black bibbers and a black concert jacket is provided to wear on stage for their performance (no need for other concert attire to be purchased).

Thank you to our Uniform Room volunteers and also the following:

Olga Zogaib, Nate Gibbs, Nareese Gibbs, Mr. Woods, and Ande Fallon for their help getting our band members plumed for the last home playoff game.

Doug Gibbs for fixing more broken zippers on the black bibbers and helping with washing miscellaneous uniform pieces throughout the season.

Congratulations to the Student Uniform Committee for being named section of the week!

If you have any further questions, please contact us at: uniforms@dsbandboosters.org.

Thanks,

Allison Muth
