From Mr. Woods:

Hello Tiger Band Family,
I am very pleased to introduce you to our newest addition to the Tiger Band Director Team, Mr. Daniel Cuevas.  Check out the Tiger Band Family 2022-23 FB page for more details about Mr. Cuevas. Along with Mr. Mayer, Mr. Ehlers and Ms. Johnson and myself, your Director Team is ready to get the 2022 Tiger Marching Band season off to a great start!

Colorguard and Percussion Camps were a HUGE success!  The amount of growth from all the students was VERY impressive, and bodes well for the level of excellence we can expect to achieve this season.  I'm looking forward to getting the season started with everybody on Tuesday!

Band Registration on Saturday, July 23rd went very smoothly. Thank you to all the volunteers, adult and student, that worked to make the event a success. While we do understand that conflicts arise, we do appreciate you making every effort to attend this event rather than the Alternate Registration on Tuesday, July 26th at 6:00pm.  There are more families needing to attend the Alternate Registration than we planned, so please be prepared and patient with us and we'll get you taken care of as quickly as possible. Please remember that your student and a parent/guardian must attend.

Message for all students about Camp Theme Days from the Drum Majors and Band Council:

Tuesday - crazy hat day

Show off your fun and bizarre hats to your friends

Wednesday - tacky tourist

Dress up as your favorite Hawaiian-shirt-wearing tacky tourist

Thursday - throwback Thursday

Wear previous band shirts from middle school or a past band season.

Friday - senior day / short short day

Tips for safe and enjoyable rehearsals:

- Eat breakfast everyday - stay away from Dairy products

- WEAR A HAT - even if you "don't like hats"

- Get outside for more than 15 minutes at a time before rehearsals start to acclimate to the heat!

- Hydrate before rehearsals begin, and make sure you bring your water jug with Tiger Band Coozie filled with water (not sports drinks or tea).  We will have the Water Cow available for refills, but start the day with a full, fresh water jug.

- Apply sunscreen liberally!

- No jeans or jean shorts.  Athletic wear and tennis shoes with good support are expected.  No Hi Tops or boots permitted.

Communication is something that the Tiger Band Staff and Boosters strive to excel at...but we do you need to do your part, too. Our weekly emailed Newsletters with Announcement Sheets will start up again July 17th.  The contact information you provide in your Toolkit account is what is used to email you this information, so be sure that your profile info is up to date.  We also utilize the app Remind, the codes to join your student's group(s) are included in the attachments.  This platform is used for short messages to communicate with individuals, small groups or large groups and can be accessed from your phone. The Tiger Band website at www.dsbands.org can also be a great source of information.  The DSHS Bands Google Calendar has all the dates and times for the year so far, and when events are updated on the Calendar, it automatically updates your Calendar, too, once you've subscribed. And the Tiger Band Family 2022-23 Facebook Group is also a great way to communicate.  We always appreciate any photos or announcements that you would like to share pertaining to our Tiger Band students and families! The Twitter and Instagram accounts will need a new moderator, so I'm not sure if those platforms will continue, yet.

Senior Parents:

- For the traditional Senior Lock-in on July 29th starting at 9:00pm to 7:00am July 30th, we need several Senior Parents to volunteer as Chaperones, and at least one Senior Parent willing to coordinate for this event to occur.  Contact Caryn Pacelli at carynbandbooster@gmail.com to volunteer.

- If you're interested in a Senior Shoutout in the Football Program, the deadline is July 24th. Follow this link for more information Senior Shoutout

Dropping off and Picking up your student at the HS

When dropping off or picking up your student, please follow the rules below. Before and after rehearsals or events, it is important that the driveway loop and the loading dock stay clear so that students can safely get set up and torn down with their equipment.

DO pull as far around the loop as you can

DO park in C lot to wait for your student

Do NOT pull into the loading dock area

Do NOT block the loading dock or staff parking entrances

Do NOT wait, sit or park in the driveway loop.  Our school buses and charter buses must be able to safely stage for student loading and unloading in that area.

Tardy to or Absence from regularly scheduled rehearsals/events is sometimes unavoidable.  Students will make up the time missed, regardless of the reason.  Parent communication to Mr. Woods via email in addition to student communication with their section leader is required prior to the absence.  This is especially important for morning rehearsals - I need to be able to confirm that your student is safe and where they're expected to be.

Go Tiger Band 2022-23!

Concession Update

It was a pleasure speaking to everyone yesterday at orientation, and to hear the many commitments that were made to help fill volunteer spots this fall. We cannot overstate the need for volunteers in all areas to help get through the fall band season. This is a special program and I encourage ALL families to get plugged in and to help. The students and staff will work extremely hard and put on a quality show as they always do, but their ultimate success will depend in part on the many volunteers that it takes to make it all happen.

Concessions Cleanup and Move-in – This Saturday – July 30 from 8:30 to 11:30

This week we will gain access to the concessions stands at Tiger Stadium, and on Saturday will be cleaning-up and moving our equipment and supplies in as we prepare for the football season. We’ll need approximately 20-25 workers to knock this out. Please SIGNUP (list coming soon). Students that are willing to help clean and organize will be awarded volunteer hours, so please join your families, and come on out.

Scrimmage Games – Friday August 12 (Times TBD)

Prior to the official start of the football season DSHS will host scrimmage games on Friday 8/12. We plan to operate the home side concessions stand with a limited menu (drinks and snacks) during these games. This is good opportunity to become familiar with the operations of the concessions stand when it is not as busy as the typical Friday night environment.  When we receive information regarding specific times for these games, we will post the volunteer needs on SIGNUP (list coming soon).

Cooking School! – Saturday August 20

August 20 is Drill Frenzy, when the band will end the day with a Friends and Family Performance in Tiger Stadium.  We will be feeding the students from the concessions stand that evening before the performance. There are already 10 spots available on sign-up for volunteers to help from 5-8.

Ahead of that event we will be holding “cooking school”, to introduce folks interested in being volunteers in the cooking area to how it all works.  This will likely begin around 3:30 and will end with this group cooking for the kids.  Topics we plan to cover include:

  • Equipment Operation and Safety
  • Food handling
  • Catfish preparation and breading
  • Cooking
    1. Catfish
    2. Fries
    3. Hushpuppies
    4. Burgers

With the move to 6A we plan to increase service on the visitors side this year to include Catfish prep and cooking, which will require additional cooking help. This is a great opportunity for those interested in volunteering for the cooking team to get plugged in.   This is a fun group, so please don’t hesitate to sign-up.

Summer Band Volunteers Needed

Hello Tiger Band parents!  We need volunteers to help over the next four weeks with some activities and tasks to help keep the summer rehearsals as smooth as possible. We’ve been mindful to keep the activities to 2 hours (or less) to ensure more parents can fit these times into your busy schedules.  Our parent volunteers not only keep the kids hydrated, well fed & taken care of, but are such a positive source of morale support for the kids and band directors, alike.

No experience required, just a happy attitude and helping hands.  Some activities/tasks may be outdoors, so please be prepared (hat, sunscreen, water bottle).  Thank you in advance!

Please visit our Signup sheet with all of the upcoming Summer Rehearsal volunteer needs:   https://signup.com/go/SrbRntW

Direct any questions to Tammy Gorman, Summer Band Volunteer Coordinator, tammytexas@gmail.com or via text to 512.623.9437.

Percussion Update

What a great week of Percussion Camp!  The kids sounded fantastic at the preview on Friday.  Please be sure to get connected with other percussion families by joining the following Facebook page:  2022-2023 DSHS PERCUSSION Families.  Thank you, Gina Morton, for posting photos and sending out information.

I will be placing an order for the Percussion t-shirt this week.  The students are highly encouraged to purchase the shirt as they will wear during rehearsals to represent their section.  For parents: happy for you to order as well.  Let me know if you are still interested and payment can be sent directly to me via venmo @Allison-Muth-6

Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions.

Uniform Update

Summer Band Camp - With the start of summer band camp the uniform team will continue to outfit all upperclassmen for marching and concert uniforms. Volunteers are welcome to come and help. Fittings for band shoes will be later this week.

FYI to Freshmen and New Students - Uniform fittings are traditionally done in class order starting with Seniors, Section Leaders, Juniors, Sophomores then Freshmen and New Members. This is so that we can get the older students out of the smaller uniforms to fit the younger ones coming in.

Band Registration Makeup Day (Tuesday, July 26 6-7:30pm) - Registration is when all students and parents order the required uniform pieces to fill out their student's band uniform for the school year. To make this process run smoother and help reduce your band budget, please inventory what fits and doesn't fit your student so that you only order what you need (this includes gently used items from siblings). The Registration table will be set up for informal uniform fittings only.

Volunteer Lists at Band Registration - Parents interested in volunteering for sewing, serging, ironing, and/or being a Kubby Keeper, please look for our signup sheets at the Uniform registration table.

Donations are always accepted, but please do not send used gloves or socks. Donations can be handed to a director or placed by the uniform door (not by the Lost & Found).  Thank you all for the donations that have already shown up. Your contributions are very much appreciated.

  • polo band shirts (grey only)
  • grey or white dri-fit shirts (DSHS logos & no stains)
  • shoes (back and white)
  • black shorts
  • black belts
  • black DS band hats

If you have any further questions, please contact us at: uniforms@dsbandboosters.org.

Thank you,

Su Gibbs and Suzanne Gusella

From Mr. Woods:

Hello Tiger Band Family,

The 2022 Tiger Marching Band season is upon us!  Preparation for this year's production "The Mandala Project" begins this week with Percussion and Colorguard Camps. The Band Booster Officers and Leads, along with the Directors, have been hard at work to make sure the camp rehearsals as safe, productive and enjoyable as possible, so please do your part to follow the Registration process and be sure that your student is prepared with all of the required items.

The Director team has gone through some personnel changes, but we're well on the way to providing all the Tiger Band students with the very best experience and product that we can.  A few weeks ago, I announced that Brian Mayer would be joining us, and in the next day or two I will be announcing who the other new addition to the Tiger Band Family will be (just waiting on some official paperwork to be finalized).  I am very excited about the positivity, student-centered mindset, experience and excitement that these master educators are bringing to the table.  And they're really great humans, too! Mr. Ehlers, Ms. Johnson and I are REALLY excited to be working with Mr. Mayer and our newest addition.  You'll get a chance to meet Mr. Mayer at the Opportunity Day coming up this Wednesday, 7/20 from 9:00am-12:00pm.

Colorguard and Percussion Camp: July 18th – 22nd/ 8:00am – 4:00pm or 5:00pm

This camp is required for all students in Colorguard and Percussion.  Students will need to dress for rehearsal, no jeans/high top shoes/sandals.  Water Jug is required, with only water and ice in it.  Percussion and Colorguard Liaisons will be coordinating lunches. Students may NOT leave campus within camp times. Please be prepared to turn in your student's Physical Form, DSISD Band Permission and Medical Release forms first thing on the 18th.  Students are not allowed rehearse without these forms turned in.  You can find these forms, along with all the Registration forms not found on Toolkit here:

Pre-registration opens July 9th and must be completed by JULY 20th. These items and costs are identified on the Registration Worksheet, one for Winds and Percussion, one for Colorguard. Concession Update

As we prepare for marching band season, we are also getting the concessions stand operations organized for the upcoming football season.

As everyone that has spent time in our concessions stand knows, it takes a team effort to handle the volume that we serve in concessions for our home games, and as we move to 6A we only expect demand to increase.  This is a good problem for the band, since concessions is a major fund raiser that provides significant financial support the band program, but it will require everyone’s help.

In addition to volunteers, we will need some folks to step up and help direct activities in the various areas of concessions on game nights for both the home and visitors side:

Cashiers/Order Window

Order Preparation

Food Preparation

We will be at registration on Saturday, so please let me know if you are able and willing to help or if you have any questions.

Save the Date - Saturday July 30th, we’re planning to clean the concessions stands and to move our equipment and supplies from storage.  With enough help, we should be able to knock this out before noon. Once we confirm that we’ll have access, we will communicate details and send out sign up information.

Uniform Update

Wednesday, July 20th Opportunity Day (9am-12pm) - Attention Seniors, Juniors and Sophomores - Come in and be fitted for marching and concert uniforms while you are playing off for Parts I and II in the band hall. We will start with freshmen once upperclassmen are complete. We will continue fittings throughout the summer bandcamp weeks until everyone is done.

The Registration table will be set up for informal uniform fittings only.  The photographer will have marching jackets available for the band button pictures during the registration process.

Volunteer Lists at Band Registration - Parents interested in volunteering for sewing, ironing, and/or being a Kubby Keeper, please look for our signup sheets at the Uniform registration table.

Donations are always accepted, but please do not send used gloves or socks. Donations may be either handed to a director or placed by the uniform door (not by the Lost & Found).  Thank you all for the donations that have already shown up. Your contributions are very much appreciated.

  • polo band shirts (grey only)

7/6/22

Hello Tiger Band Family,
I hope this email finds you and yours well and safe!  Mr. Ehlers, Ms. Johnson and I are so excited to start working on our 2022 production "The Mandala Project" with all the students.  I am also very happy to welcome Brian Mayer to our Tiger Band Family as Assistant Director.  I will have another person to welcome very soon, so be looking out for that announcement.
The attached information is very important for you to go over carefully, so please take the time to do so.  This will help ensure a smooth transition into the 2022-23 Tiger Band year.
Band Registration - Saturday, July 23rd - DSHS Band Hall -  required for ALL Tiger Band students and at least one parent to attend.  Be prepared to try on informal uniform parts and pay registration fees. Follow the instructions on how to create your Toolkit account to access all the online forms required for Registration by July 20th.
Seniors  9:00am
Juniors  9:45am
Sophomores  10:30am
Freshmen and New Members  11:15am
Alternate Registration - Tuesday, July 26th from 6:00-8:00am
Only for students that have a conflict on the 23rd.  Physical form, Band Permission and Medical Information form must be turned in prior to morning rehearsal on the 26th in order to participate.
For the traditional Senior Lock-in on July 29th starting at 9:00pm to 7:00am July 30th, we need several Senior Parents to volunteer as Chaperones, and at least one Senior Parent willing to coordinate for this event to occur.  Contact Caryn Pacelli at carynbandbooster@gmail.com to volunteer.

President's Update

Congratulations to all of the students, directors, and staff on the end of the school year and wrapping up a great pre-season camp this week.  I appreciate all of the volunteers that came out to help with first aid and water early every morning this week. Everyone enjoy the break! I’ll see percussion and guard folks on July 18 for mini-camp, and everyone else at the required registration day on Saturday, July 23!

Many of you have asked how we could help support the Babington family. Jack's siblings have been and are currently part of the color guard. The DSHS Lead Counselor, Retta Ary, has shared the Go Fund Me started on the Babington family’s behalf. If there are additional ways we can support the Babington family I will share that with all of you.

Please keep Carl, Crystal, Presley and the entire Babington family in your thoughts and prayers.

Uniform Update

Mrs. Gusella and Mrs. Gibbs have enjoyed getting the band fitted and dressed in their many uniforms this past school year.  We look forward to next year's class and production of The Mandala. When July's band camp starts, we will continue fitting for juniors, sophomores and then freshmen. We will also start gathering information for volunteers who would like to help with fittings, sewing and Kubby Keepers positions. So stay tuned.

July 23rd Band Registration - Registration is when all students and parents order the required uniform pieces to fill out their student's band uniform for the school year. To make this process run smoother and help reduce your band budget, please inventory what fits and doesn't fit your student so that you only order what you need. The Registration table will be set up for informal uniform fittings only.  There will be marching jackets available with the photographer for the band button pictures at Registration.

Lost & Found - There are still a few pairs of black shoes and informal uniform pieces in the Lost & Found. All band related items left in Lost & Found at the end of finals week will be donated to the uniform room for future use. Non-band related items will be fed to Jackson (trash can) or go into the green donation box in the C parking lot.

Donations are always accepted, but please do not send used gloves or socks. Donations may be either handed to a director or placed by the uniform door (not by the Lost & Found).  Thank you for the donations that have already shown up these past few weeks. Your contributions are very much appreciated.

A HUGE Thank You goes out to all of our Kubby Keeper parents who pre-treated stains, scrubbed, cleaned and hung our uniforms throughout this school year.  The students certainly noticed when their uniforms were clean and smelled good each time they were worn. Thanks Again!

President's Update

Congratulations to our seniors on their graduation!

Parent volunteers are still needed for the Friday of pre-season camp. We need two volunteers to assist with the first aid tent from 7-11a.m. Please sign up at https://signup.com/go/jEZZTZV.

A reminder that for pre-season camp your performer needs a half gallon water jug! It’s going to be hot, so keeping kids hydrated is important.

Also, everyone please remember to schedule your kid’s physical exam.  The form to be completed is available at https://www.uiltexas.org/files/athletics/PrePhysFormRvsd2.21.pdf . Students must turn this form in at band registration in order to participate in band.  Percussion and color guard students must turn the form in before the summer mini-camps.

Finally, remember there are ways you can help the band financially beyond our football concessions and other events.

  • Sign up for HEB Cards — the band receives 4% of your gift card amount. See below for info.
  • Shop at Amazon Smith (smile.amazon.com) — Select Dripping Springs Band Boosters Inc as the organization you support
  • Report your volunteer hours through your company matching program. Let me know if the Dripping Springs Band Boosters aren’t recognized yet, and we’ll get signed up!

You kept the faith in the Tiger Band through the most extreme circumstances of the past 4 years, and the entire Tiger Band Program is stronger and poised for success in 6A because of you. Thank you to Tara Ballard, Tanya Conreaux, Caryn Pacelli, Kimberly Bertram, Gina Morton and Timmie Smith for all of your efforts this week!  The students were well taken care of with snacks and lunch, and the parents were well taken care of with goodies.  I hope that you enjoyed the Parent Social.  I thought the turnout was great, and our student tour guides were very excited to show you our really great facilities here at DSHS. And speaking of turnout, the Parent Preview was almost a packed house!  I know the students all had a great time performing for you for the first time as the 2022-23 Tiger Band, and as always we appreciate your support.  Please consider getting more involved through the myriad of volunteer opportunities the Band Boosters have - we truly can't do it without you!

President's Update

It was great to see everyone at the social and parent preview yesterday!  I know for incoming families there was a lot of information covered.   You’ll find it repeated here, and if you don’t then send me an email.

Parent volunteers are needed for pre-season camp, every morning from May 31 to June 3. We need two volunteers each day to assist with the first aid tent from 7-11a.m. Please sign up at https://signup.com/go/jEZZTZV.

A reminder that for pre-season camp your performer needs a half gallon water jug! It’s going to be hot, so keeping kids hydrated is important.

Also, everyone please remember to schedule your kid’s physical exam.  The form to be completed is available at https://www.uiltexas.org/files/athletics/PrePhysFormRvsd2.21.pdf.

From Mr. Woods:

Hello Tiger Band Family,

With the amazing Band Banquet and Spring Concert now in the rearview mirror, we begin the process of saying goodbye and good luck to our Seniors and their parents. While it is easy to let the departure of people important to the program create a sense of sadness and unease about the future without them, the Tiger Band Pride, Excellence and Tradition always continues into the future as strongly as ever. I'm reassured of this every time as our new leadership team is assembled, congratulations to our 2022-23 Drum Majors, James Lee, Camryn Sulser and Jace Byrd! They will be joined at the end of the week by the rest of the selected leaders on May 20th. The excitement for next year's journey begins this coming week at Spring Camp.  This will be the first time our rising 9th graders will get to mingle and rehearse with our current HS Band students, and this is one of my favorite parts of the year.  Let's get next year started with a vigorous Tiger Roar!

Donations requested for 5-Octave Marimba:  We are only 1/3 of the way to our goal of $8000.  You don't have to be a Percussion parent to donate. With over 60 Percussion Families grades 6-12, and over 150 other HS families, I was hoping that raising this amount of money would be easy.  To date, we've only raised $3,200 or so. We are going to lose the opportunity to acquire this instrument very shortly if we can't come up with the money in the next week.  Please follow the link to "Lend a Mallet” and thank you!  https://dripping-springs-band-boosters.snwbll.com/ticketing/marimba-magic.

Spring Camp: May 16th, 19th 5:00-8:00pm + 21st 9:00am - 7:00pm or so

Spring Camp is required for all students grades 8-11 participating in the 2022 Tiger Marching Band. Bring water, instrument and a positive attitude!  Follow the link below for more detailed information - and be sure to select your meal choice for lunch on Saturday.

Spring Camp information

In addition, there will be solo and ensemble performances by our Senior Percussionists.  Performer dress is nice clothes - shirt and tie (no jeans) or dress/skirt/slacks, no tennis shoes.  This promises to be an evening of really amazing music making. Please plan to attend!

DSHS Graduation: May 27th in DSHS Tiger Stadium

There will be a required rehearsal and performance at the DSHS Band Hall for all 2022-2023 Wind Ensemble students (current 8th graders invited) at 5:00pm. The Ceremony will begin at 8:00pm. Dress is shirt and tie or dresses/slacks/blouse. No tennis shoes, jeans, T-shirts or shorts.

Students will receive instruction in marching, movement, show music and choreography that will set them and the entire ensemble on the path to great success in summer band and the competitive season.

President's Update

It’s time to start preparing for the coming marching season. Spring camp is here! Please mark your calendar to join us Saturday evening for snacks, socializing, and a band hall tour before the parent preview in the competition gym.  The parent social will start at 5pm in the vicinity of the band hall — the exact location will depend on where sessions are being held — and at 6:15 we’ll move over to the competition gym for the preview performance.

There is some volunteer help needed this week for spring camp. We need an adult on hand to assist with any first aid issues. There are no outdoor activities planned, so these should be some comfy shifts indoors!  For pre-season camp May 31 - June 3 we’ll need two volunteers each day to assist with the med tent from 7-11a.m.  Please sign up at https://signup.com/go/jEZZTZV.

As Mr. Woods noted above, our fundraiser to assist in the purchase of a 5-octave marimba that will benefit the band program for decades to come is coming to an end. We have to secure funds this week or we will lose the opportunity to purchase the instrument.  Donations can be made at  https://dripping-springs-band-boosters.snwbll.com/ticketing/marimba-magic.

Finally, remember there are ways you can help the band financially beyond our football concessions and other events.

  • Sign up for HEB Cards — the band receives 4% of your gift card amount.

Students need their grey dri-fit shirt, long black socks, black band shoes and grey bike shorts for this final concert. Black bibbers and a black concert jacket are provided to wear on stage. Check with the Weekly Announcements for Call and dress times since the concert time has been changed. Parents make sure to bring your cameras for final pictures in this uniform.

Keep Track of Your Band Uniform Pieces

There are still a few pairs of black shoes and informal uniform pieces in the Lost & Found. Please check that you have your uniform and equipment together so that there are no delays in getting ready for concerts. A gym bag helps to keep your clean stuff ready by your door or back pack.

Uniform Needs for next fall season and Donating Items

Band camps are quickly coming up in May, June and July. Please inventory what fits and doesn't fit your student so that when July registration happens you only order what you need. This makes the registration process run smoother and helps you reduce your band budget.

Mr. Woods has confirmed that the band's grey polo, grey and white dri-fit shirts, and black shorts will be the same style for next fall. If it doesn't fit, consider donating band uniform items back to the band hall. Donations are always accepted, but please do not send used gloves or socks. Donations can be placed in a box/bag and either handed to a director or placed by the uniform door (not by the Lost & Found).

President's Update

Howdy Tiger Band Families!

As the school year starts to wind down band events continue strong through the end of the year. Please check the dates above to be sure you’re not missing anything.

The band will need parent volunteers this month to help with spring camp, graduation, and preseason camp. For spring camp and preseason camp, we need a parent to fill the water cow and then a couple of parents to help with first aid during camp. At graduation we have the opportunity to sell water bottles, and three volunteers will be needed to help with that.  Detailed times will be provided closer to the events.

As dates for events for the summer and fall become available, please mark your calendar to be sure you’re able to help the band.  There are 5 home football games this fall, and we need 50 volunteers to help in concessions at each of them. That means each band family needs to be represented in the concession stand by an adult at three home games. The front ensemble needs help getting on and off the field at every football game and marching contest from about 25 parents, and as the season progresses the help needed from parents to help with props also grows to about 25.  The band can’t move without our help. Please get your calendars set so you can be part of our rise to competition in 6A.

Finally, remember there are ways you can help the band financially beyond our football concessions and other events. If you buy HEB gift cards from the band (see below for information) the band program receives a donation from HEB that’s 4% of the gift card amount, meaning that your regular grocery shopping can help the band throughout the year. We are also registered through Amazon smile, so please be sure to set your organization to Dripping Springs Band Boosters there and do your online shopping through smile.amazon.com.  If your company recognizes your volunteer hours with a donation to the organization, please log your hours for the band!  Every bit of the funds we raise helps the band program improve opportunities for our students.

Go Tiger Band!

Uniform Update

Keep Track of Your Band Uniform Pieces

There are a few pairs of black shoes and informal uniform pieces in the Lost & Found again after the UIL Concert and Sight Reading contest. Please check that you have your uniform and equipment together so that there are no delays in getting ready for shows or contests. It helps to keep your clean stuff ready in a gym bag. This is also a great time to make sure that everything fits.

Uniforms Needs for next fall season and Donating Items

The time is quickly coming up for our high school band camps in May, June and July. Please inventory what fits and doesn't fit your student so that when July registration happens you only order what you need. This makes the registration process run smoother and helps you reduce your band budget.

Mr. Woods has already confirmed that the band's grey polos, grey and white dri-fit shirts, and black shorts will be the same style for next fall. If it doesn't fit, consider donating band uniform items back to the band hall. Donations are always accepted, but please do not send used gloves or socks. Donations can be placed in a box/bag and either handed to a director or placed by the uniform door (not by the Lost & Found).

  • polo band shirts (grey only)
  • white or grey dri-fit shirts (DSHS logos & no stains)
  • shoes (back and white)
  • black shorts
  • belts
  • black DS band hats

President's Update

Howdy Tiger Band Families!

It was great to see the Tiger Band at the front at the front of the Founder’s Day parade on Friday, and so many of you around the booths this weekend. Thanks to all that shared their videos and pictures of our performers on the Band Family Facebook page.

As our potential student leaders prepare for auditions this week, I want to introduce the Booster lead volunteers for 2022-23. I do need someone that can help me plan and organize our Spirit Gear so we’re ready to go at July registration and have items to deliver before the first marching contest in September. Let me know if you’d like to help with this. Please support the volunteer leads with your time, volunteering to help as needed in registration, summer band, concessions, prop and pit crew, pulling trailers, packing snack bags, and all of the other behind the scenes jobs it takes to support our performers and directors as we enter our first year of competition in 6A. It’s going to take all of us!
